Hi,

The Government has published regulations and guidance address the obligations that councils will have under part 1 of the Care Act 2014. They have started an extensive consultation on these regulations which sets out a new framework of Local Authority Duties in relation to social care.

The Act came onto the statute books on 14th May 2014, but much of its detail about the impact on Local Authorities will be set out in these Regulations.

The consultation indicates that the great majority of the part one framework will come into effect in April 2015, less than a year from now.

We recommend that the Assessment Regulations and the Eligibility Criteria Regulations should be the starting point for all providers of Adult Social Care. Remember, all of these regulations will impact on the commissioning activity of your Local Authority and ultimately, your service specification.

Find a full list of the Regulations here.

Regards,

Regards,
Margaret
