U4GM Pokemon TCG Pocket Guide: What Pack Is Best

Your first pack choice in Pokémon TCG Pocket matters more than it looks. It decides which Genetic Apex pack you open first and which starter deck you're handed, so it can shape your first few hours quite a bit. If you're starting fresh, or checking different early setups through Pokemon TCG Pocket Accounts, the safest starter pick is still the Charizard pack. Not because Charizard ex is the only prize, but because Exeggutor ex gives new players a real deck direction straight away. It's simple, sturdy, and it can still steal games while you're learning matchups.

Why Charizard is the easiest Genetic Apex start
The Charizard pack gives you a cleaner path than the other two Genetic Apex choices. Exeggutor ex is the main reason. It doesn't ask for a complicated setup, and it can fit into decks that sit around the middle to upper end of many tier lists. Keep opening Charizard packs and you may find a second Exeggutor ex, plus Erika, which is exactly the sort of support that makes the deck feel less clunky. You also have other useful pulls in that pack, including Moltres ex, Charizard ex, the Greninja line, Blaine pieces, and Sabrina. Sabrina is one of those cards you'll use long after the beginner phase.

The other Genetic Apex packs are more awkward
The Pikachu pack isn't useless, but it's less forgiving for a brand-new player. Pikachu ex can be strong, and the pack also has Arcanine ex, Misty, and Magneton. Still, it doesn't hand you the same smooth early plan as Charizard. The Mewtwo pack had a much better reputation when the card pool was smaller. Back then, it gave players a lot of deckbuilding room. These days, though, newer releases have pushed it down hard. You can still pull fun cards from it, but if you're trying to spend early Pack Hourglasses wisely, it's not where most players would begin.

Newer packs changed the real beginner list
Once you're past the forced starter choice, don't tunnel vision on Genetic Apex. The game throws a good number of Pack Hourglasses at you early through missions, levelling, and your first Wonder Pick, so you'll be opening more packs pretty quickly. Right now, the best beginner targets are often Extradimensional Crisis, Shining Revelry, and the Dialga pack from Space-Time Smackdown. Extradimensional Crisis has the base for Buzzwole ex and Guzzlord ex decks, plus Silvally, one of the strongest Stage 1 Pokémon around. Shining Revelry brings Giratina ex and Red, while Dialga offers Darkrai ex, Rampardos, Lucario, Pokémon Communication, Dawn, and Giant Cape.

Packs worth opening after your first batch
There are still plenty of good secondary choices. Palkia has Cyrus, which works like the game's best Boss's Orders-style effect, along with Palkia ex, Weavile ex, Manaphy, and Rocky Helmet. Celestial Guardians is worth a look too, since both Solgaleo and Lunala packs can provide Rare Candy, a key Item for Stage 2 decks. Eevee Grove is attractive because Sylveon ex draws cards and fits into many builds. If you don't want to grind from zero, some players look at Pokemon TCG Pocket Accounts for sale to compare collections, but for normal play, Charizard first and newer high-value packs after that is the route I'd take.
