Hi there, can anybody help me with these knowledge questions please?

5: How to evaulate your own competence when at work and decide when further support and and expertise are needed.

8: Methods of establishing contact which are likely to maximise productive engagement with individuals and minimise unproductive interventions.

13: The ways in which individuals culture and gender influence your practice.

Thank you

Hi pink,

5. You have regular appraisals with your line manager, ask for feedback from individuals, key people, colleagues and others (eg from other agencies) and you reflect on your own working practice. You use this to evaluate your working practice, skills and training needs.

8. E.g. don't prejudge individuals, consider differences in values and preferences between yourself and the individual, be open and friendly, agree boundaries so that everyone knows what is and what is not acceptable.

13. You may provide care to an individual based on your own cultural or personal standards and not be aware that it is inappropriate for their culture. For example, in some cultures it is not acceptable for females to be cared for by males, you need to be aware of this and provide for individual needs.

Hope that helps
