Hi weeley,

The Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984 and the Health and Social Care Act. See here:

http://www.parliament.uk/deposits/depositedpapers/2011/DEP2011-0973.pdf

The NICE Guidelines. See here:

http://www.nice.org.uk/nicemedia/live/10922/29119/29119.pdf

Plus your setting's policies and procedures.

Hope that helps

Hi MaureenMcC,

A risk is a situation, action or event that may cause harm or damage

Potential risks of infection are not washing hands, not cleaning equipment, not disposing of waste safely....and so on.

Hope that helps

hello,
look at previous answers.
Potential risks such as body waste not being disposed of properly, not washing hands and so on.

Hi. Working through this unit now. 10 more to go! Can a potential risk be the organization not following correct procedures i.e. norovirus - not shutting the home, not keeping people in quarantine and letting it spread to visitors etc who should have been informed.

Also, needle stick injuries,

Splashing in eyes/mouth body fluids

being vomitted on

Grazes, cuts scratches, bites from service users

Etc etc so many risks working in a care setting!
