Hi dianefoley,

A service focused risk assessment would make decisions that suit the service provider rather than the service user ie be person centred. It could be that the service provider would need to provide resources or change staff rotas etc in order to support the individual to do the things that they want to do so they emphasise what can't be done rather than what can.

Hope that helps

Aunty Sue

Hello
The answer is sort of in the question!
A service focused approach looks at risk and solution from the service's point of view, the person centred from person's point of view.
So, for instance a vulnerable person wants to go out alone into the community, a service based assessment will look at risks/solution to service, i.e. person may get hurt, not good for service so it doesn't happen' p.c. approach looks at risk to person and how this can be minimised/ removed, so maybe person can go out with right support.

Hello,
It should help you if you look at previous answers. Think along the lines of opportunities missed, quality of life compromised.
