Hi,

I am really struggling with this diploma i always work nights so i don't get to see anyone to help me and it is really getting me down! i just can't get my head round the way these questions are put into context ( may i just add that i have never ever been in this sector of work before so haven't got a clue about anything)!!!

1.Describe the issue and the different arguments that have been expressed in the public debate (human rights act or Euthanisia)

2.Explain how this issue has affected the way the public views the health and social care sector and the way that service delivery in your area have consequently changed.

3.Outline the main responsibilities of representative bodies that have been involved with the sector of the issue.

If anyone can help me at all i would be much appreciative thanks xx

Hi Bubble1988,

1 See here and explain the points for and against:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/ethics/euthanasia/

2 Think about what issues the debate has raised with the public eg a desire to have a dignified death, a fear of having life support turned off etc and for changes think about living wills.

3 Government and legislation, NICE and guidelines, religious organisations and ethics, pro and anti euthanasia groups etc.

Hope that helps

Hi Bubble1988,

You could talk about living wills and the fact that euthanasia is against the law in this country. You could also include passive euthanasia ie withdrawing care and the dilemma this can cause. See here:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/background_briefings/euthanasia/1044740.stm

You can't really say how it affects your work directly except that you must not encourage it but the above should satisfy the criteria for service delivery.

Hope that helps

Hi Bubble1988,

Not sure where these are from but 'the sector wide revelant to my role are?' sounds as though something is missing such as 'standards'.

Think about your health and safety policy for example. What is the role of the employee? Look through your setting's policies and procedures they tell you what you must do.

Hope that helps

I am currently completing my diploma level 3 in health and social care adults. and I have taken the learning disabilities pathway and really struggling with some of the optional units.
PDOP3.1 UNDERSTANDING PHYSICAL DISABILITY
SSOP3.1 UNDERSTANDING MODELS OF DISABILITY.

Any ideas or recommendations would be really grateful.
