hi all , have just came across this forum whils frantically looking for help with my health and social care diploma 3
i need to create an article for school leavers to attract them to the positive nature of the health and social care worker's role for health and safety.
The article should be entitled: Health and
safety in social care – it's not just a jobsworth!

i have various pointers to include such as failures etc

has anyone got any pointers in this??
thanks

wow thanks for quick reply how can i turn something so negative into something positive enought to attract school leavers :/

pointers i need to include are

Shocking failures – it's why we need to obey the law
Cover the reports into serious failures to protect individuals from
abuse and the legislation that covers health and safety.

• Health and social care workers – protecting the vulnerable
Cover the duty of care as a health and social care worker and how
this protects individuals.

• Part of a system
Cover the system that exists for reporting and dealing with
issues of abuse and how you can get whatever additional help
and information you may need to carry out your role. Include how
health and safety is promoted within social care.

Hi stressedmamof3,

How about Victoria Climbie and Every Child Matters etc.

For duty of care see these:

http://www.unison.org.uk/acrobat/19786_Duty%20of%20care%20rev4.pdf

http://www.mind.org.uk/help/community_care/abuse_by_health_and_social_care_workers#in tro

http://www.fassit.co.uk/pdf/CodesofPracticeforSocialCareWorkers.pdf

Use your settings procedures for reporting abuse. You will also find information on your local authority website.

Hope that helps

Hi stressedmamof3,

I know what you mean. You are being asked quite a lot.

No you don't need to go into detail. Just that she was abused and what went wrong eg poor communication between agencies, then how this led to Every Child Matters etc (something positive). I wouldn't mention Baby P as this happened after reforms so would take it back to a negative!

Hope that helps

Aunty Sue
