Hi, it helps to promote a feeling of being part of the community, feel valued, increase their confidence & feelings of self-worth, doing things for themselves so not so dependent on others, to be positive, empowering an individual to feel included, that they can access the things that other people can - equality & inclusion. The individual isn't being discriminated against, not being denied their rights, being treated with dignity & respect, being given choices, helps to prevent isolation which could lead to low self-esteem, depression, etc, etc, etc. The individual may find out about other services & facilities available to them, make new friends, increase their social network, join clubs, groups, etc, help their emotional well-being but physical well-being too: getting out & about, taking exercise, etc. |
