Hello, sorry I am posting that here but on general forum no one replied. Hope here someone will.
Please advise me.
Two weeks ago, I found out that one member of staff is using a resident's laptop for personal pleasure and is browsing through porn websites on that PC. I reported issue to my manager and since then staff was not allowed to use residents' laptops. Manager also ensured me, he talked to suspected person and gave him warning. Today accidentally I discovered the situation repeated.
Should I interfere again or ignore it. I even don't trust my manager, what shall I do?

I will appreciate all advices. Please

You must report this incident again to your manager - you may not trust your manager but you must give him the benefit of the doubt. Your manager did deal with the issue when you first raised it, he may well dismiss the person this time.

If this does not solve the issue then you may need to take it further.

You must never believe what you do is simply interferingm you are not - and NEVER ignore this behaviour.

Good luck....you will be doing the right thing....stick with it!!!

Trevio,

Thank you very much for your advice.

At my place of work, there is always short of staff that is I doubt my manager will deal about the problem. Furthermore, the member of staff which uses that laptop for reason I described is kind of friend of my manager. Whenever my manager needs him, he is at hand. He works for my manager as a builder, driver, not only support worker. That is why the situation is complicated and is difficult for me to complain what I saw.

Trevio, I am also confused because we all were using that laptop. I always had permission ( the owner is 21 with Autizm) and was using the online dictionary mainly to write correctly daily record as I am not English native speaker. Does that matter for what reason PC was used? I am less guilty?

PS. What do you mean take it further?

Thank you.

mika29 - this does (in my opinion) seem very concerning. It certainly does matter you are using the person's laptop and should stop immediately. The resident is a vulnerable adult - care/support workers should NEVER borrow or take things regardless whether they have permission from the resident. It could be seen that people are taking advantage of this resident and his kindness....it certainly does to me.

You need to speak with your manager, you have a duty to sort this out.

I take it this is a care/residential home? Who owns this residential home...is it private or run by the local authority - so go to the person that is higher up.

You must also remember mika29...this is not simply about a laptop being 'borrowed', inappropriate use of it too which could be distressing for this resident.
