Good morning everyone

I am considering options for my next career move, and if I am honest role of a CQC inspector seems to be most appealing to me.

I have looked through CQC's website, but really can't seem to find much relevant information regarding required experience, qualifications etc.

Really I am just looking for something to assess myself against.

Are there any current or past inspectors out there? If so, I would love to hear your opinions/experiences.

Many Thanks
Patryk

Hello

A Former CQC Inspector here!

Your best bet would be to make enquiries directly to CQC and go from there. The role is not all about doing inspections it also incorporates, monitoring services, enforcement, safeguarding and keeping your portfolio up to date on a daily basis. You will be required to work from home so you need to take that into account both from a practical point and also from an emotional and point of view.

Hope this is helpful.

Kind regards

Hi Caterpillar,

I know I am slightly late with the reply, but I have now been shortlisted for an assessment centre with CQC.

I am finding it impossible to find any info on what to expect.

Would you mind sharing your views on the recruitment process or possibly maybe have any tips?

Best wishes

Hi Patryk,

I too have an assessment which will be in the new year. Much like yourself, I have been unable to find much information about the process and hope to find out a little more to help me prepare. I hope it went well, if you have already attended your assessment centre and that, perhaps, you have been offered a position.

I wonder if there any useful advice you can give me about the process. In particular regarding the interview and presentation.

Kind regards

Tracy

Hi Tracey,

Like yourself, I am still awaiting for any dates - closing date for the applications was ( if I remember correctly ) end of August.

I have recently had to sit another fit person interview, at the end of which I managed to have a little chat with the inspector.

As you can imagine she wouldn't tell me much, however, she did tell me that a lot of the questions are competency based and they are looking for actual examples - How did you handle a difficult situation etc.

I was also told that it is not unusual for successful applicants to be in the " recruitment process " for over 12 months.

In other words, if successful probably won't be starting any time soon.

Many Thanks
Patryk
