This is the last thing I need to cover then my unit is complete.... so far I've put....

When producing reports there are benefits to using either source of information. Quantitative results are easily displayed in reports in the form of graphs, pie charts and diagrams. A benefit of this is that data can be easily compared. However, in a Social Report, the majority of information is qualitative (knowledge based). Qualitative data can easily be displayed in a written report by clearly organising information into sub-sections

but they've asked for a theory/theorist to back up K17E (evidence based research and knowledge based research and the benefits of both when recording and reporting).

Could anyone offer me some help? Please put me out of my misery! I'd be incredibly grateful.

David

1976 Marton and Salijo identified 2 learning styles which could be adapted to be seen as approaches to evidence based practice:

surface -focuses on acquiring and memorising info. Learning is motivatd by external factors e.g legislation, increased demands from employers

deep - critically analysing new ideas and linking them with existing knowledge

deep approach is seen as better one because you link it into your practice setting.

Probably more but do a search on google.
