Hi Melanie, you could look at the website for the awarding body www.cityandguilds.com or www.edexce.org and look at the units from there Katrina

Hello,
I think people are finding it hard because they are starting it too soon after starting in job.
Much better to do your required Induction in place of work, do your mandatory training, a few months of shifts and you should manage it fine, there is nothing in it that you shouldn't know about. if there is then you probably need to ask workplace for more training. From the questions that pop up here I guess training is sometimes neglected or people just attend the courses and don't take on board what is being shared. Having a certificate is no guarantee that someone knows their stuff, trust me, I've asked candidates questions about their training and they haven't had a clue about even the most basic stuff.

Hi, I been in this job for 3 and a half years and work only nights, doing this at level 3 and finding it really hard as most of the things your asked to cover you dont do on nights
All I can say is Good Luck to all

Hello
Sort of agree with you that it is a bit hard to cover some requirements on nights. As an assessor I find it really really hard to get decent observations done on nights. I am more than a bit put out to make the effort to arrange to see someone at night time while they are on shift to find they are doing the laundry, the cleaning, getting tables ready, all service users in bed, so I end up with a useless observation. Even though you are on nights you should still have the same knowledge as day staff, attend same training courses. I now arrange for night staff to come in a bit earlier so I can get a half decent observation, then, if I'm lucky get a senior to provide a good witness testimony. Level 3 is hard for night staff but you need to choose your units wisely and be prepared to be flexible. This is still a vocational qualification and you need to be competent in all the requirements of the units. Hope you get there!

Hello,
Only you know about any changes that have taken place recently that have affected how you work. e.g. has your rota changes, have you got some new clients, are you supporting someone in a different way? You need to use examples from your own workplace.
