Consider the individuals you support (i work with the elderly in a care home) and list different ways others negatively discriminate against them in the language that they use, and explain how you would challenge this?

Any help appreciated :)

Hi michelle14,

Think about the things that people might say such as, referring to someone as "Old Mary" or a "Slowcoach", recording that "Fred was a pest last night". That sort of thing. What would you do?

Hope that helps

Aw thank you, a great help, really appreciate it

Another one i got is :-

Identify other conflict you may meet in the ways others communicate with the individuals and explain how you would try to resolve these issues.

Thank you

Hi michelle14,

They may ignore them and address you instead eg "Does he like sugar?". They may tell them that they won't understand eg a doctor when asked to explain their illness. They may assume that because they are elderly they are deaf and stupid so they shout or speak very slowly. That sort of thing.

Hope that helps
