Hi cazzy,

No, unless the assessor is a co-worker who also works with the individual.

Hope that helps

you assessor is allowed in the room when doing your direct observation if and only if they have asked your resident for permission to be in the room and the home care manager should also ask the persons family.

If you are an in house assessor then you carry out personal care with service users and can then carry out observation of personal care as part of your duties.

It is inappropriate and unacceptable for any other type of assessor to watch personal care .

In fact you can complete this unit without witnessing personal care at all if you and your candidate plan well before hand and they can ask service users what they would like, how much help they would like, would they like to access toilet facilities, offer choice of toilets, watching them wash their hands and put on apron and gloves beforehand ,preparation putting toiletries etc into bathroom and then tidying up afterwards.
