I work in a care home.

Explain how communication can build relationships in your work setting.

What factors need to be considered when promoting effective communication.
Does this one mean, clients disability/illness, prefferred method of communication??

Hi

effective communication helps build trust and respect between colleagues and other professionals, it prevents misunderstandings, everybody has a clearer understanding of instructions and helps inprove efficiency, it helps to maintain a positive working environment and enable positive working relationships to be formed.

Effective communication between individuals using the service and carers helps to build and maintain relationships. communicating at the correct level of understanding prevents them from becoming distressed or frightened about what is happening, it helps them to feel included and they have choices this helps build trust and makes the individual feel safe and not isolated or alone.

Factor that need to be considered could be
environment, is it quiet, private, free from distractions?
communication needs of the individual, do they need any aids, allowing enough time
your body language, sitting in close proximity, facing the individual, using gestures and eye contact to show you are listening.

hope this helps
