Hello o/
As an assessor observing a candidate, my observations would be of communication between the patient and candidate, possible manual handling, clinical hygiene, use of protective equipment when dealing with clinical waste and the promotion of dignity and privacy. It is important to note that if the candidate is leaving the patient for any length of time that the patient is provided access to a means of calling for help (call bell). (The patients care plan should have a risk assessment stating as to whether it is acceptable to leave the patient unattended whilst toileting as most people would prefer to use the toilet unobserved)
Record keeping may also come into this if the patient is on an elimination chart. As an external assessor it would be inappropriate to observe personal care being delivered.
Hope this helps |
