hi, A person-centered approach to any care situation is where you actively involve all significant people who know care for or work with the person ( including the person )who is being supported in the care planning/decisions made about etc. the person being supported is the main aim it is a person centered approach - services tailored to meet the needs of the person you are supporting. Also peron who is needing support is involved as much as is possible with dementia . A non- person -centered apporach is when agencies meet and make decisiions about the daily care of the person who needs supporting - no main aim to find out the views of the person or significant others in their lives. services are mainstream and the person has to meet the needs of the agencies/not the agency meeting the neeeds of each individual. I am sorry I do not assess in the dementia field but have a lot of experience of H& SC I hope this helps part of your question. |
