Hi my supervisor the other day, mentioned that doing you NVQ was reflective accounting, what is it and is this what the NVQ is about. Please help I have really hit a brick wall and need all the help I can get.

reflective accounting is talking about your experiences. so for example your nvq asks how did you promote the national care standards.

you would write something like this

i started my shift and after the handover i went to joe bloggs room to see if he was ready to get up. when i got to his bedroom door i knocked on it (respecting privacy) then as i opened the door i said my name and what i was here for. joe was still in his bed but awake, i asked him if he would like to get up now or have a long lie in (offering choices). he said he wanted a lie in so i respected his decision and said i would come back in a while to help him have his shower.

so its just writing about what you did and why you did it and bringing in any relevant laws, organistaion procedures etec etc etc!! everyone writes in a different way.

another thing to remember is its got to relate to your work practice. see for example you got stuck, you came here and found what you thought was the answer but it was actually for a hospital setting. thats not reflective because you have written about something not relevant to you.

have a wee practice. write on paper or on here if you want what you did yesterday morning.

But now I have to relate this to the question on discrimination equality and inclusion, and I can't seem to think when I have been invovled in that situation, so what do I do? section 203

you are maybe just overthinking it.its what you did, think to the scenario you want to relate it too and just write down what you did. for all of my units i need to do it in reflective account. you can write it on anything but it needs to be what you did in your workplace. i am sure you have loads of situations to relate too. just write a wee story on it.

so what has happened in your workplace that you thought was discriminating/lack of equality/exclusion and how did you deal with it?

Well my supervisor sugested I write down what I told her, which is reflective and after every visit.
