Had an email from my Gen manager, thanked me for letting him know but did not come across as very happy about it, wants a meeting between me, him and the home manager to discuss it..

Is this normal as I thought I would be Anonymous because of my protected disclosure???

Hi Donny,

Yes that's usual but I would advise you to ask if you can have another person with you as a witness and for support, maybe a trusted colleague or better still a union rep if you have one.

Thanks Aunty Sue.

Daft question but can that be refused, having a witness?

The person I would want to take is the team member who worked with me on that night, and was the one who had calls from our manager, so would be the best bet i think.

Many thanks

Donny

Hi Donny,

Yes it could be refused but it wouldn't look good for them if the matter went further.

Your choice is a good one as they would have relevant information to back you up. You could use this as a good reason to have them there.

If they insist on just you let them know that you are not happy with this. You could ask them for reasons for the refusal and make a note of their reply.

I don't want to speculate about what could happen in the meeting nor do I want to worry you as there may be no problems at all. However, for your own sake and protection you need to be prepared for anything.

Remember YOU have done nothing wrong.

Hope that helps

Hi folks

Just to give you an up-date on the proceedings for the problem I reported to my Gen Manager, Its been weeks now and I have never been consulted about the report I sent in and I have had no feed back!!

It seems from my side to have vanished...

Bored with the whole situation I have now secured another job and my notice has now gone in, Its a shame to think that we try to do our best and highlight areas of concern for our residents and seems no one wants to do anything about it.

I have however been cold shouldered by the Gen manager since my report which has hurt a little and made me feel like a trouble maker.

Thank you all for your needed advice on my postings, you have been a fantastic help.

Donny

Hi donny,

Sorry to here that but I'm glad you are moving on to a new job. Its very sad that nothing was done, your residents deserve better and it puts the industry in such a poor light.

You could have taken it further by reporting it to the CQC but it could have impacted on your own future career.

Sadly I doubt if your report was recorded and saved so that it could be revealed in an inspection. However they might see reports from the incident itself unless they have also gone missing.

You did your best, well done and I'm happy to know that I helped.

Thanks Aunty Sue

I know I did my best but have been blacklisted in the area where I live due to sending cqc or csci as it was then know into a home when I first started out in care, the place was almost shut down due to their practices, sadly the owner has many homes in my area and wont re-employ me so I have to travel further a field for work.

I have been accepted in a company who residents mainly suffer Huntington`s and are more then happy with way of care.

It is a shame as I loved working at the other place but cannot with the thought of having to use ladders to to get over all the rubbish under the carpets their. God knows what has been swept under the rugs!!

sorry to hear that, think you have done the right thing in leaving, not much point in hanging around with a company that chooses to do that. best of luck in your new job
