Completion of your NVQ 3 depends upon alot of factors:
you may already have alot of evidence at hand which will quicken up the process
A good assessor makes the world of difference
Your own motivation also is important

to name a few things

It took me around 3-4 months to complete mine but only because i put alot of hard work into mine and was prepared also to do some at home.

On the whole NVQ 3 takes on average 6 months too 18 months.

Level 3 like any other level is about assessing your competency in practice and your underpinning knowledge. Yes some of it concerns policy and procedure. However, it usually is about you ensuring staff understand it and can contribute towards its development and implementation (e.g. F3 in RMA or HSC4. You really are talking more about level 4 in thsi respects than level 3.

quick summary of tyoes of evidence and observations required for Mandatory units include:

HSC31
WORK PRODUCT: evidence you can use: assessment of needs that you have undertaken or being part of; support plans; risk assessment; POVA incident; any speech referrals
Witness testimony's on the above
Observation support/care plan update, risk assessment review, CPA update,

HSC31 is one fo the more difficult units to complete if working in mental health btw.

HSC32
WOrk PRODUCT:Coshh risk assessment, Health and safety checks/ report when at work, you conducting a staff induction for a new staff member or agency member of staff. Visitors guidance information sheet, POVA incident, any first aid incident documentation or an incident form you have filled out
WITNESS testimony: someone observing you dealing with visitors,
Observation: as HSC31

HSC33
WORK PRODUCT:Appraisal, supervision notes, Training request/feedback form
WITNESS TESTIMONY: someone outlining the above outcome.
Observation: team meeting that you lead, appraisal,

HSC34:
WORK PRODUCT: POVA paperwork, Assessment of need of a tenant; support plan, risk assessment, papeprwork relating to moving on a tenant to live somewhere else, team meeting minutes.
Observation: as above

Note, that most assessors will not observe any POVA incidents as such because its not appropriate but will use risk assessment update obs or support plan obs instead.

Hope that is of help. Good Luck.

Hi James,

know this is rather cheeky but any chance I could send you my work via email and see if i'm on the right track or if i'm as far off the mark as I think i am?

My tutor is useless and i've only got photocopies of the core units and no guidance at all on how to do this so i'm guessing at every stage.

I know your not an assessor but any help would be very much appreciated
