Hi Millie,

Could you please read below in answer to Assignment 208 understanding health and safety Task Cv please, im not too sure if its enough????

The social care worker must use the risk assessment by involving Ellie, her mum and other health professionals that are involved in her care in the risk assessment. The people involved in Ellie's care to be involved in the initial gathering of information, in the framing of what the risks of Ellie travelling alone on the bus are, in thinking that generates ideas and solutions, in evaluating the solutions in decision making around the risks, and by implementing actions and in leaning that takes place during these actions. The social care worker must look at what Ellie and others involved want and what responsibility each person has in managing the risks effectively so that Ellie is safe from harm.

Hi DiplomaGal, my suggestion is:
A risk assessment can help address dilemmas between rights and health and safety concerns.
As a result of compiling the risk assessment any possible risks to Ellie would have been identified, the measures to remove or reduce the risks to Ellie will be included in the risk assessment.
It would be the social care worker's responsibility to ensure that they were familiar with the risk assessment & followed it. If they weren't sure about any part of it then it is their responsibility to ask for advice &/or clarification from their line manager as a matter of priority.
If any changes need to be made to the risk assessment then it is also the social care worker's responsibility to inform their line manager as soon as possible.
To assist the social care worker in supporting Ellie to remain safe, to achieve her aims, & to ensure the safety of those working with Ellie, the risk assessment must be up-to-date, & reviewed &/or revised as necessary
