I'm assuming that you work with adults/elderly as for children it is slightly different.
KS9 *express their needs and preferences e.g. - ask them, give them time to communicate and make time to listen, discuss choices, ensure that aids to communication are provided (hearing aids, sign language, cultural language speakers etc),
*understand and take responsibility for promoting their own health care e.g. - explain risks and ensure that they understand, encourage independence but make sure that the skills are there
*assess and manage risks to their health and well being e.g. - involve them when carrying out risk assessments, care plans and reviews
KS 18 e.g. Carry out risk assessments, ensure that others are aware of, and follow, H & S policies and procedures, address H & S issues with others if you see poor practice, report problems, always follow H & S procedures yourself
Hope that helps |
