Are you working for the NHS or something? I work for a private company and the carers earn around £15K a year (around £8.50 p/hr) and seniors get around £17.1K a year (around £9.70 p/hr).

It's not as great as some places but I've never earned £9.70 p/hr before in my life so I'm actually quite chuffed with it )

Wages are lowest in residential homes esp in LD and Elderly.

Where I work support workers get 16k-18k dependent upon experience and NVQ

Deputy Manager gets 18k-21k

Manager gets 26-28k

Generally speaking supporting adults with learning disabilities is better paid but i have just quit my job working in a supported living house with 4 gent with learning disabilities i was earning £7.50 per hour no enhancements for evenings and weekends £26 for a sleep in 40p per mile if using car for work purpose.i have been doing care work for 12 years and enjoy the work but yes reckon it should be better paid. i start a new job next week doing domiciliary care and the pay is quite a bit more £8.75 per hour mon-fri £9.75 weekends only get 20p per mile but are you aware that you can claim on your tax form the difference i:e a further 20p or the deficit up to 40p per mile.
