Hi
Wonder if anyone can help have an interview for a senior care post within the company I work for. Have my nvq 2,3 and A1 and have stood in as senior when needed .I haven't had an interview for a few years and am petrified and nervous, even though it will probably be with the home manager. Have a good idea of what they will ask and some ideas for my answers. Could anyone give me any tips on the questions below :-(

What do you feel are your strengths and weaknesses?

What qualities can you offer the team and residents?

Give an example of a challenging situation and how you dealt with it?

Explain the importance of care plans, care standards, company policy and procedures?

What is your management leadership style?

thanks

hi tracy, good luck in your interview, if you think its with your manager then she/he will know your strengths/weakness already. are you a good listener ? do you take time out to listen what your resies and colleagues want/need?everybody has a weakness, they wouldnt be human if they didnt !!! that includes your manager.
qualities to offer the team may include induction of new staff, being a team player, working with the team not against them.remaining confidential to all you work and look after. delivering personal care to the highest standard, you have a duty to care. an example of challenging behavior ? you must of dealt with it in your line of work, maybe on a one to one with either a work colleague or resident with dementia or challenging behaviour ? talk in a low voice, in a calm manner.diffuse the situation by taking the resie to their bedroom and talk confidentially.document all in the careplan, if it was a new situation then set a plan up,inform family etc of what had taken place. each person has a careplan thats individual to them, all staff read them to know how to deliver the care to that resie. we all work to csci regulations. each standard is followed and delivered on a daily basis, 38 of them, your important one for seniors is reg 37 which is relevent if a person is admitted to hosp, etc.
