Hi, i am a new assessor, and am wondering what certificates i could APL into NVQ2,
i know it may be a silly question, but i don't want to look stupid and ask for things i don't need, or don't ask for things i do need.

thanks

Hi Gizmo

You will need to be careful about choosing certificates to APEL.
An NVQ is a portfolio of evidence that confirms a candidate's occupational competence in their job. A certificate stating that the candidate attended a course is not valid as evidence of occupational competence. Bear in mind also that many units in NVQ's cannot be evidenced by simulation so that rules out some courses too.

Qualifications and certificates can be useful supporting evidence but not necessarily sufficient to stand on their own.

Hope this helps. :)

Dave

PS If in doubt, say to your candidate "I'm not sure about this one, I'll take it and discuss it with the IV"

Hiya,

I get them to tell me what previous training they have undertaken and when, if it is up to date and how they have taken this knowledge from training into their workplace and how it impacts in their role, they usually have done, moving & handling, first aid, food hygiene, dementia maybe etc. and I ask them to put this knowledge into practice for me to observe and also get them to reflect in their reflective accounts how they have used this knowledge and training gained to link their knowledge with practice.

Hope this helps.
