Hello Hunny, here is a couple that i am struggling with.
10. How to follow standardisation and internal quality assurance procedures.
6. How to accurately assess performance against specific parts of a standard.
Thanks for your time.

Hi Jonny

10. Regularly attend, and take an active part in, standardisation meetings with fellow assessors and IV's. Have regular meetings with my IV and act on any action points raised from the sampling of my candidates' portfolios.

6. The standards are clearly laid down by the Lead Body, my own occupational competence and experience and the quality checking by Internal and External Verifiers will ensure that performance is accurately assessed. There are also regular standardisation workshops held within the organisation to ensure those standards are consistently applied.

Hope this helps.

Its been 21 years since i have been in a classroom, had my two hour induction and was given these 37 questions to complete in three weeks. its a different language to me,and i am finding it extremely difficult. The rest of the class are internal students, teachers etc and i am the only external.
Many thanks for your time

Yes

Very poor assessment practice to give out all the knowledge and understanding questions at the start. At least you'll know not to do it with your candidates - nothing demotivates more. Don't worry, your wealth of experience is worth a great deal more than you think. I came into NVQ assessing at 55 after 36 years in management and if an old fart like me can cope with it, so can you.

Dave has answered them so I wont. I had mine at the beginning and looked at them after the last session of induction. I was able to answer all of them by the end of the induction. By the time you are let out to assess, you will know all the answers off pat xxx

Thanks Dave&Hunny
Have a good book by Ros ollin that has been very useful so less worry.
But have a few mind benders left if you could help?
29. How to identify and use information on current assessment best practice.
34. How to identify and plan for issues of confidentiality and data protection during the assessment process
36. How to identify and assess things that can influence your own competence.
Thanks again for your time.
Jon.

Hi Jon

29. You get this from your standardisation meetings, the IV, EV and newsletters/updates from the awarding body and the QCA code of practice.
34. Reassure the candidate that their personal information and any sensitive documents will be held in a secure location and only divulged to those who require the information in the awarding of the NVQ. Confidential documents used as evidence can be "signposted" and left secure at the candidate's place of work. Personal details must be removed from any evidence provided. Discussions with the candidate should always be held in private or away from the workplace.
36. "Primarily by ensuring that I can achieve all the criteria laid down by a specific wawarding body especially when new standards are issued. Also by updating skills through work related functions and occupational experience, carrying out a "can I do that?" performance skill scan.

Hope this helps.

Dave
