I'm desperate to start this course but i'm waiting for my company to have the power to issue thier own awards through Ed Excel.
Does anyone have any idea what i could do to start off and not waste time waiting for other people. as soon as i'm registered and i have an assessor, i will be able to hand a pile of work to them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
you could look at the mandatory units for the award ( on edexcel website) and write a reflective account for each one, explaining how you have met the standards in the past, what you did, why and how, refer to relevant legislation and policy - you need to back this up with documentation so you could include what documentation you used, why and where it is located. If you know what optional units you will choose then you could do the same for them. You could also get witness testimonies from people who have observed you - your manager, for example. I have a list of "common "questions that you can have if you want - these are questions that run through most units of the award so the answers can be cross referenced .
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dee,

That sounds like a good place to start and should give me a good basis of work that i can do.
I would really appreciate those 'common questions' as it would help me see the wood for the trees.

Hi,
I will sort the questions out for you as soon as I can - I just have to dig them out from the paper mountain on my desk! Will probably be the weekend before I get chance to look. I have just started assessing my first candidate on this course so will let you know of any tips - or pitfalls - along the way!

it is very similar to RM2 of the old RMA.

you will need to show evidence of your practice:
1.moving a new tenant in from start to end inc assessments, how you supported the team.
2. Supporting a resident with a life changing incident such as Loss, Physical disability, POVA, behavioural change, moving.

It gives you more examples in the standards i.e. the scope section.

you could make use of Witnes testimony, assessor obs, product evidence such CSCI report, assessments.

Hi,
James is right - this unit is just like the old RM2. Your assessor should discuss and plan the unit with you so that you know what you have to do . As well as the evidence James has suggested you could also write a reflective account, you could show your assessor mnutes of any meetings , your assessor can ask you questions and /or have a professional discussion. Don't be afraid to speak to your assessor, they are there to help you. Let us know how you get on - come back if you need more help!

Hi DeeDee,
I am currently about to start assessing three LMC. I would be very interested in the common questions you talked about, to start my candidates. I would be interested in how you are getting on with assessing with your candidate.

Hi,
I am happy to share the "common" questions we use - are happy to give me your e mail address? If not I will cut and paste them here. I have approached the L&M in the same way I did RMA, same obs etc, just a nightmare getting to know the standards....feel like it's trial and error really, will have a better idea of how we are doing after an EV visit!

Hi Dee,

nwassessors@ntlworld.com.
That would be great if you could forward me any questions you use. I attended a city and guilds meeting regarding the LMC and the concensus was that the knowledge was very detailed and the candidate needed to be able to differentiate between leadership and management.
