This is becoming an absolute pain and I am tearing my hair out I have done this once but wasn't suitable I have to explain what maslow or elisabeth kubler ross theory is? what is a theory????? and explain the way I use it in my care setting? can someone please help I just do not know what to write out I have looked it up on the net but I just do not understand it, I thought I had finished as this is all I have to do now.

Theories are ideas based on research and/or experiments.

Maslow developed a theory that we can't be fully happy until all of our needs have been satisfied. He went further by saying that these needs need to be satisfied in a certain order.

He used a triangle to explain this, with the basic needs at the bottom and the highest needs at the top. We can't move up to the next level until that level has been satisfied. For example the individual needs to feel and be safe before he/she can think about developing friendships, with love and support he/she can begin to feel good about him/herself and develop self-esteem. If you are aware of this you can provide the appropriate support for your individuals to help them though the levels.

Kubler-Ross developed a list of stages that she believes we all go through when faced with grief or tragedy. Again if we are aware of these stages we can understand and support our individuals through them.

Theories help us to understand our individuals. They are just ideas and theorists often disagree. Don't be afraid of them because with a bit of thought you might find that they make sense. They can be presented in a seriously academic way but there are sites where they are explained in simpler terms.

Put it in your own words and give more detail about the theory such as the triangle and the stages. You can then use scenarios or better still examples from work you have done with individuals using the theories.

i dont want to be referred to Kubler-Ross etc.. just an example of how they come into practice? can anyone help?
