Hi just joined the forum. I am going to do the NVQ4 LCM and would like to know how difficult people are or have found it ? Also where do I find the best reading material suitable for this course ? How much work is involved and time spent ? I ask these question because I am a 24/7 carer and my time is limited.
Thanks Danielle

I completedd my NVQL4 last sept, now half way throu my LMC, and so far found it ok, most units can be cross referenced via L4. Put as much Legislation in relation to care as you can in any reflective accounts, these can then be cross referenced and you wont need to do so many reflective accounts. I usually 'hi lite' in bold text any legislation or standards in any reflective accounts so its then easy to find, look back on.
Just remember its like a puzzle, once you have your manditory units in place, your option units then cross reference over to other units, so in theory the more work, cover legislation, standards etc you write in your manditory units, the less work you should do with your option units... thats the theory anyway!!
Hope this helps!

Hi Danielle, the course is very work based. By that I mean that all the work for the evidence will be what you do in your everyday work. I do the clinical supervision at the home where I work, also I do the induction for new workers, all of this covers loads of criteria for the award. Dont look to hard and make yourself mad with worry, simply look at the job you do and make it work for your award. Regards Linda:-
