I am a new A1 assessor and am stuck on a few knowledge questions can anyone help me with these. The questions i need help with are as follows:
KS 11-14
16-19

I have managed to answer the others, it was a struggle though. I need to get this in to my assessor by the end of Jan 09 so any help will be appreciated.

Hi Juliette

A few! Hmmm.

Pouring 7 cubic metres of concrete in the morning - I'll have a think after that.

Hi Juliette,
that's a lot of questions! You say you just want to check you are on the right track - what have you put as your answers?

Hi juliette, i found the NVQ Assessor and Verifier handbook by Jenny Tucker and Ross Ollin very helpful when I did A1. ISBN number is 0-494-4047-3 if you want to order it or ask at your library Katrina

hi dee dee here are a couple of examples i have put any feedback would be good. i have only got 5 more to answer!

KS 2 How to identify and compare different types of evidence when making your assessment decisions.
I would look at the evidence that I have used to see whether I have been fair to the candidate's ability and whether the candidate has met all the criteria by using my chosen assessments. Ideally observation should be used as it clearly states that the candidate has knowledge because they are applying this.

KS 5 How to agree assessment plans with candidates and other people involved
I would discuss this with the candidate prior to doing the assessment to give them time to prepare. I would ask the candidate to gain permission from others for me to be present during their care needs.

KS 13 How to make valid and reliable assessments of candidates performance

I would use at least four different types of assessments to validate the candidate's performance. Observations will be a reliable source as it is live and the candidate can show their knowledge though performance. I would also attend regular standardization meetings and participate in learning activities.

Hi Juliette

Just a couple of bits of feedback:
Q2. There are two different types of evidence, direct, such as observation or work product, and indirect such as witness testimony, reflective account, question answers and professional discussion. Direct evidence is the strongest as it demonstrates the candidate's competence in a live situation.

Q5. Fine

Q13. Use "evidence" not "assessments", list the four types of evidence. You are validating their competence, not performance.
....the candidate can demonstrate his/her competence and knowledge through performance...

Q13 may look piccky but it's just using the correct "jargon". As assessors, we assess evidence against the standards to confirm/validate a candidate's occupational competence.

Hope this helps.

Only five more!

Dave

Hi Kassykimbo

Very happy to pass on my knowledge to help you with the ones you are stuck with, which are?

A lot of these can be demonstrated through the evidence you are producing for your portfolio and so do not have to be answered.
